A new reality series is hunting America's best practical gore artists, and whoever wins the show walks with $10,000. Gore Wars — the practical-effects competition series in development at horror streamer Screamify — is casting right now at gorewars.com, and as of July 21 you don't even have to shoot an audition. You just send a reel of work you've already made. Here's what actually needs to be on it.
1. Real gags, really working
The whole premise is practical only — no AI, no CGI. The producers are asking for prosthetics, makeup, blood rigs, creature builds, and gore gags. Footage of a rig actually firing beats a photo of it sitting on a bench every single time.
2. Three minutes, max
The guidance is roughly three minutes. That's not a short film — that's a highlight reel. Lead with the gnarliest thing you've ever built and don't save anything for minute four, because there is no minute four.
3. Stuff you already shot
This is the July 21 rule change that makes it stupidly easy: no produced audition tape required. Existing work counts. Behind-the-scenes clips, festival shorts, haunt-season builds — if it's your work and it's practical, it's eligible material.
4. Your own work, with receipts
It has to be work you made and have the rights to share, and anyone on camera has to have consented to appear. Basic, but it's in the terms — don't get bounced on a technicality.
5. Know what you're actually entering
Reality check so nobody gets it twisted: this is a casting call for a series in development, not a "submit to win" contest. The reel gets you considered for the cast — the $10,000 is the grand prize the winner takes on the show.
The deadline
Casting closes August 20, 2026. US residents, 18+. And a detail the FX community will appreciate: Screamify pledges every submission is watched by human producers and never used to train AI — even the campaign art is real public-domain classic-horror imagery, zero generated pixels.
